The Seattle City Counsel has just recently adopted the most aggressive ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) policy changes in the United States. These new changes have reduced the restrictions that had previously limited homeowners’ ability to capitalize of their home.
These changes now allow Seattle Homeowners to:
1) Rent out their home; and
2) Rent out their basement; and
3) Rent out their detached garage.
That means 3 separate rental units per lot!
– Homeowners no longer have to live locally or provide parking for any of the units!
Whether we like it or not, these changes will boost residential ADU conversions and greatly increase density.
